Doors of the Sahara Desert

The south of Morocco opens to the Sahara desert. In the middle of these stretches of sand, you will discover a world of dunes, sun and peace.

Marrakech and Agadir are two doors that open to the Sahara. Fez too: from the imperial city, you must go through the neck of the Talghemt. It is not yet the desert, but it is already announced. Everything is full of oasis: It is the Tafilalet, a transitional region where the greenery of the vegetation and the ocher of the sands continue to dispute the terrain. If you take the track of the old caravans, you will arrive at the city of Rissani, cradle of the old Alawite dynasty. Now you will be on the edge of the desert: on the horizon you will only see the dunes with their gentle curves removed by the Chergui, the wind of the Sahara.

Venture a little further and go hiking on the back of a camel. Forget about the turmoil of the city for a while and camp in the middle of the sand in tents with all the comforts. Come to the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, immerse yourself in them and take a bath in an impressive environment. Spend the night there and, in the morning, you can watch the sun rise over the dunes, a beautiful scene.
